About the Measure

4A is focused on raising $5.9 million in support of School District priorities. All funds will be directed toward three main priority areas, each targeting a specific student need: teacher and staff retention, career and technical pathways, and closing achievement gaps.

Staff Compensation

$4.5M for competitive compensation to recruit and retain high-quality teachers and staff in Summit County.

For students: Greater staff stability means stronger relationships, consistent instruction, and more experienced educators in every classroom.

Academic Outcomes & Student Resources

$1.0M for eight new academic support positions — seven in reading, math, special education, and school improvement, plus one dedicated to teacher support — placed where student need is greatest.

For students: Targeted academic support exactly where schools identify the greatest need.

$400K to expand Career & Technical Education, career exploration, industry credentials, and work-based learning — from a student's first hands-on experience in elementary school through graduation.

For students: More real pathways to college, careers, and life after high school.

  • “Expanding college and postsecondary pathways gives every student more opportunities to discover what comes next. As a teacher, I want our students to graduate with real choices and the confidence and experience to pursue the future that’s right for them.”

    - Oakley Van Oss, Construction Tech. & Dual Language Teacher, Summit High School

  • “Every student who walks into our schools has different strengths and needs. Having the right staff and resources allows us to meet students where they are and give each of them the support they need to succeed.”

    - Kendra Carpenter, Principal, Dillon Valley Elementary

  • "Competitive salaries help keep great educators in our schools and reduce staff turnover. When experienced teachers and staff stay, students benefit from stronger relationships, consistency, and a better learning environment."

    - Naomi McMahon, Attendance Secretary, Summit Middle School

School Funding Challenges

Colorado underfunds public education by an estimated $4.1 billion. 4A closes that gap right here at home — $5.9 million a year for teachers who stay, career pathways that open real doors, and academic support that keeps every student on track.

"As a teacher, I want our students to graduate with real choices and the confidence and experience to pursue the future that's right for them."

4A is local: raised here, audited here, spent entirely on Summit students. You'll also see Proposition NN on your ballot this fall — a statewide measure that invests existing state revenue in public education over the next decade, without raising taxes. Vote YES on both: 4A for Summit now, Prop NN for Colorado's future.
